Olympic Track Star Gabby Thomas Sends a Clear Message on Training Consistency During the Festive Season

Gabby Thomas continues to focus on her long-term preparation as she looks ahead to the 2026 track season. The American sprinter was forced to sit out the 2025 season due to an Achilles injury, which led to her missing the World Athletics Championships and the Athlos meet.

As the holiday season unfolds, Thomas has stressed the importance of staying consistent with her training despite seasonal commitments, keeping herself engaged in her routine as part of her recovery and buildup.

Gabby Thomas Shares a Training Reminder During the Holiday Season

Having already announced her return to training following the season-ending injury, Thomas recently reinforced that message through an Instagram post. In the video, the three-time Olympic gold medalist is seen working through a weightlifting session, offering a glimpse into her off-season approach.

In the post, she wrote, stating: “Holiday session ???????? ???? Every day doesn’t have to be a heroic workout…but the key is to not miss too many days.”

The 29-year-old has remained a prominent presence for the United States on the global circuit. Her performances at the 2023 World Championships included a relay gold medal and an individual silver in the 200 meters.

Beyond her athletic achievements, Thomas also brings a strong academic background. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Harvard University and a Master of Public Health (MPH) in epidemiology.

Thomas Makes Her Los Angeles Olympics Participation Crystal Clear

After a successful run at the Paris Olympics 2024, Thomas left little room for doubt about her future in the sport. The American sprint star made it clear that retirement is nowhere on the horizon, confirming she intends to compete at the Los Angeles Olympics 2028.

Appearing on CBS Mornings, she didn’t just acknowledge the possibility; she embraced it with visible excitement, especially with the Games returning to the United States. “Oh my goodness. I am so excited for that. To have the games here in the U.S. is going to be incredible. I will be there,” she said.

During the same interview, she also spoke about Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian and his growing involvement in track and field. Thomas explained that Ohanian initially reached out directly, acknowledging his limited familiarity with the sport and expressing a desire to learn.

According to Thomas, he asked if they could hop on a call to ask a few questions, making it clear that his goal was to listen rather than pitch ideas. She noted that this approach stood out as Ohanian focused on understanding the sport through the athletes’ perspectives.

Those conversations eventually shaped Ohanian’s involvement, leading to the hosting of the Athlos meet and later its second edition this year, as he plans for continued expansion next season.
