Mild temperatures expected in Bay Area Thursday

(BCN) – Thursday in the Bay Area calls for sunny skies with a 30 percent chance of rain in multiple parts of the region, especially around the Bay, according to the National Weather Service.

Daytime highs will be in the 60s to low 70s on the coast, low to mid 70s around the Bay, and mid to 70s inland. Overnight lows will be in the mid to upper 50s.

Light rain and drizzle are expected around parts of the Bay Area on Thursday as a weak weather system continues along the Northern California coast, according to the National Weather Service.

A surface trough extending from Northern California to the Central Coast keeps skies mostly cloudy, with light rain across the North Bay overnight. Forecasters say coastal areas from San Francisco south to Big Sur will also see periods of drizzle during the morning and afternoon.

A stronger low pressure system off the Pacific Northwest is expected to move inland overnight into Friday, sending a cold front through the region. Temperatures are expected to drop sharply overnight, especially dropping into the mid-40s in the North Bay. Highs along the Central Coast could also drop into the 40s by early Friday.

The cold mornings are expected to continue through the end of the week, with gradual clearing and drier weather, according to the National Weather Service.
