Man, woman dead in apparent murder-suicide at Orange County restaurant

Police in Orange County are investigating an alleged murder-suicide inside a Korean barbecue restaurant on Tuesday.

La Habra Police Department officers responded to a “shots fired” call at Gui Gui Korean BBQ located in a strip mall at 1240 W. Imperial Highway just before 7 p.m.

In a press release, authorities said officers discovered a man and a woman suffering from serious injuries, and they were pronounced dead at the scene by Los Angeles County Fire Department medical staff.

“Based on preliminary information, it appears that the incident is a murder-suicide,” police officials said. “At this time, investigators have no indications of any outstanding suspects, and there is no known threat to the public,” he added.

Authorities did not say whether a firearm was found at the scene, nor did they identify the alleged shooter among the dead. It is also unclear whether other customers of the restaurant witnessed the ordeal.

The identities of the victims are being withheld pending notification of their relatives.

While the investigation remains active, authorities are asking anyone with information to contact La Habra Police Department Detective N. Pineda at 562-383-4353.
