Major fast food chain offering $1 meals in SoCal amid government shutdown

Officials confirmed to KTLA that hundreds of Carl’s Jr. locations Throughout Southern California it is providing $1 meals to families affected by the ongoing federal government shutdown.

Starting November 1, participating restaurants managed by Akash Management LLC – a master franchise group of Carl’s Jr. It has nearly 300 locations in Los Angeles, Orange County and the Inland Empire – offering the Kids Burger, Small Fry and Kids Drink for just $1 to qualifying guests.

Amir Siddiqi, franchise owner and CEO, said the initiative aims to ease financial pressures on local families and government employees during the lockdown period.

“We live here. We work here. We raise our families here,” Siddiqi said in a statement. “When our community is under stress, we feel it too. A warm meal at a fair price can provide a moment of comfort during turbulent times, and we think that’s important.”

To receive the discounted meal, guests are required to show one of the following:

  • Federal government employee ID
  • Military ID
  • SNAP or EBT card

No additional purchase or subscription required. The offer will remain available throughout the closure period and until stocks last.

“In moments like this, being a good neighbor means stepping forward,” my friend added. “If it helps even a little bit, then that’s what we’re here to do.”
