Israeli couple torn apart during Oct. 7 attack has broken up to focus on healing

An Israeli couple was horribly separated and kidnapped by Hamas during the October 7 massacre, according to a local report.

Noa Argamani, 28, and Avenatan Or, 32, were separated for more than two years after they were kidnapped by terrorists at the Nova Festival and held separately in Gaza.

Argamani became the face of atrocity when a video and photos of a terrified young woman being carried away on the back of a terrorist’s motorcycle spread around the world.

“Don’t kill me!” She screamed as she was pushed away.

Now the couple are dealing with the unimaginable trauma caused by the horrific day, and have decided to focus on ‘individual healing’. According to the Israeli outlet JFeed.

Those close to the survivors reportedly told the outlet that the breakup was respectful and amicable.

Argamani was kidnapped for 245 days. Or he was among the last victims to be released after more than two years of imprisonment, spent hungry and alone.

During their tearful reunion in October 2025, Argamani smiled broadly while Orr planted a kiss on her cheek.

“Not every story that begins with trauma is meant to end the same way,” Jewish Life Now, a contemporary Jewish cultural magazine, shared on Facebook in reaction to the news. “Sometimes survival is just the beginning…and healing takes its own direction.”

Those invested in the miraculous love story praised the couple for being strong enough to finish after everything they had endured together.

“They are both so brave. And it’s true right now. This kind of trauma can’t be healed together, not at first. They both need their own healing,” one commenter wrote.

“Maybe in time. They won’t be the first couple to break up after deep trauma. I hope they find some peace, and I pray for them.”

Orr and Argamani did not immediately respond for comment.
