An illegal immigrant sat stone-faced in a Long Island courthouse Monday as prosecutors outlined disgusting new details of his alleged sexual assault of a young girl that left her needing surgery.
Guatemalan national Carlos Aguilar Reynoso, 27, was babysitting a 5-year-old girl while her mother was at work on February 1, and violently raped the child, leaving her bleeding and suffering from internal injuries, Suffolk County prosecutors told the court Monday.
“When the victim’s mother returned from work — the victim told her mother that her genitals hurt,” Assistant Prosecutor Shawn Murphy said as Reynoso stood emotionless, staring blankly ahead.
“Believing her child might have soiled herself, she took her to the bathroom to change her clothes when she noticed her underwear was soaked with blood,” Murphy said.
The child then told her mother what the alleged patient had done to her, prosecutors said.
The child was then taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead, where doctors found internal injuries and lacerations to her private areas, prosecutors said.
She was then transported by ambulance to Cohen Children’s Medical Center in New Hyde Park, where she underwent emergency surgery, according to prosecutors.
Murphy revealed that police arrested Reynoso after just one day, but not easily because he resisted police attempts to detain him.
He was almost released back onto the streets due to a combination of lax bail laws and sanctuary policies.
Reynoso was initially charged with endangering the welfare of a child, which is disqualifying for bail in the Empire State. Immigration and Customs Enforcement would have been denied custody of him because of the state’s sanctuary policies, but investigators issued the alleged pervert an appearance ticket at the office so he could be processed and released.
Federal agents then restrained him on his way out of the Prices area, sources said.
Reynoso, who used a translator in court, barely moved during the proceedings, speaking only once — answering in a low-pitched, monotone yes when asked if he understood what was happening.
He is charged with a laundry list of sex crimes, including first-degree rape and predatory sexual assault of a child, and faces 25 years to life in prison.
The alleged sexual harasser was held without bail and is scheduled to appear in court on April 27.
