Gov. Abbott offering $10k reward for information on Jacksonville fugitive in officer-involved shooting

Jacksonville, Texas (kitk) – Gov. Greg Abbott announced Monday that his office is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest of 64-year-old Bobby Michael Dennis, who allegedly shot a Jacksonville Police Department officer. Sunday and stabbed a K9.

A Jacksonville police officer was shot during a confrontation with Dennis at approximately 4:41 p.m. Sunday. Dennis is described as a black man, approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighs approximately 152 pounds, and was last seen wearing all black clothing.

The Texas Department of Public Safety issued a Blue Alert for Dennis on Sunday night. According to Blue Alert, Dennis was last seen in the 920 block of Benson Street at approximately 4:40 p.m. Sunday.

Dennis was also added to the Texas Department of Public Safety’s Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list.

“Attacks on our men and women in uniform must stop,” Abbott said. “Our law enforcement officers, who risk their lives every day to serve and protect, should know that they will always have the full support of the State of Texas. We strongly urge anyone with information related to this crime to call the Texas Crime Stoppers hotline or submit an anonymous tip online.”
