Family mourns Orange County food truck driver killed in crash

The family of a food truck driver killed in a rollover crash in Orange County is mourning his loss and reaching out to the community for support.

“Last night (07/10/2025), our hearts were broken when Richard, a 67-year-old hardworking father and grandfather, was tragically killed in a car accident while driving his popular food truck called “Ayala’s Food Service” after a long day of work,” a post to help a family Ricardo “Richard” Ayala on GoFundMe male.

Ayala was struck by a truck as he turned left into oncoming traffic while on Warner Street in Santa Ana late Tuesday night. The impact of the crash caused the vehicle to overturn and eject Ayala, who died at the scene, police said.

The driver of the other car involved in the accident was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with minor injuries.

“Richard touched the lives of countless people with his kindness and humility, and his untimely death leaves a void that words cannot fill,” the GoFundMe post said, adding that he “spent his entire life working tirelessly to provide for his family.”

The post was created in memory of Ayala to raise money for the family during this time of loss.

“His family now faces the unexpected costs of funeral arrangements and the numerous financial burdens that follow,” the newspaper said.

The crowdfunding page hopes to raise $23,000 to support the family. “️ Rest in peace, Ricardo ‘Richard’. We will never forget you.”
