Egypt and Russia are seeking to accelerate work on the Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant, stressing their commitment to keeping the project on track as part of ongoing cooperation in the field of energy between the two countries. During a meeting held in Cairo on Friday, April 10, the Egyptian Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Mahmoud Esmat, stressed the importance of strengthening coordination between Egyptian and Russian institutions to ensure the project is delivered in a timely manner. He described the Dabaa facility as the cornerstone of Egypt’s peaceful nuclear energy program, which aims to generate electricity. The talks took place with a Russian parliamentary delegation headed by Nikolai Shulginov, Chairman of the Energy Committee of the State Duma. According to the Egyptian Ministry of Electricity, the talks covered progress at the construction site as well as broader opportunities for cooperation in the clean and renewable energy sectors. The Russian delegation also visited the Dabaa site, located on the northern coast of Egypt.
