(Crohn’s) – One person was killed and two people were seriously injured in a suspected DUI crash near the intersection of Monterey Road and Rancho Drive in San Jose on October 8.
The two-vehicle accident occurred when a woman driving a silver 2007 Ford sedan swerved into the path of a blue 2013 BMW coupe traveling north on Monterey Road, according to the San Jose Police Department.
The woman in the Ford, the man driving the BMW, and the man sitting in the passenger seat of the BMW were seriously injured in the crash.
“The force of the collision caused the BMW to strike the center divider and come to a stop in the southbound lanes of Monterey Road,” SJPD said. “Both drivers were transported to local hospitals with serious injuries that were later determined to be non-life threatening.”
The passenger of the BMW was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he later died.
Police suspect that the woman who was driving the car was drunk at the time of the accident. SJPD said investigators are preparing a case to send to the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
Authorities are withholding the identity of the victim from the public at this time. This accident is the 28th traffic fatality in San Jose this year.
