Denver weather: Cool Sunday, but back to the 70s next week

DENVER (KDVR) — The weather won’t last long, but Denver’s weather forecast is calling for a rare cold day for Sunday with the sun still shining. However, the metro area will return to the 70s starting Monday.

Weather tonight: cold but not that windy

Cool, but quiet, Saturday night.

The breezy conditions will gradually end through Saturday night. The sky will be clear. Temperatures will drop into the lower 20s as light northeasterly winds shift to the southwest. Some locations will wake up to cooler temperatures Sunday morning.

Weather tomorrow: sunny and cold

Temperatures below normal on Sunday.

After a chilly start to the day, Sunday afternoon highs will be below normal — something the metro hasn’t seen much of this fall. We expect highs to be either side of 50 degrees in northeastern Colorado. Some spots on the plains may stay in the upper 40s.

Looking Ahead: Another warm week

If you’re not a fan of the cold, you’ve probably really enjoyed this extended period of unseasonably warm and sunny weather. Temperatures jump to more than 20 degrees on Monday with highs near 70. Temperatures remain near 70 for the rest of the work week.

Another very warm week in November is coming.

The long-range forecast may finally be showing signs of a changing weather pattern. Next weekend temperatures look to drop into the 50s with overnight lows near freezing. Metro Denver may also see its first major storm system of the season, bringing the potential for much-needed snow in higher elevation areas. As for whether Denver and the Plains will see any moisture (rain or snow) remains to be seen.
