The Blue Jays bring some much-needed depth.
Toronto signed veteran Patrick Corbin to a $1 million deal, According to Mitch Bannon of The Athletic.
Corbin, 36, posted a 4.40 ERA in 31 appearances (30 starts) for the Rangers in 2025.
He will report to the Blue Jays’ Single-A team, though it appears he could be on the big league roster soon.
Sportsnet’s Ben Nicholson-Smith reported that Corbin has been “practicing extensively” and is already throwing 80 pitches during bullpen sessions.
“He probably only needs a few minor league starts,” he wrote.
The addition of Corbin comes as Toronto deals with a few injuries in the starting rotation through the start of the 2026 season.
Earlier this week, Cody Pons suffered an ACL injury, which is expected to sideline him for an extended period of time.
The team was already dealing with injured list periods for Shane Bieber, Jose Berrios and Trey Yesavage.
The Blue Jays are hoping they can get something closer to the Corbin of old.

After making two All-Star teams and earning Cy Young votes two different times during his first seven seasons, Corbin’s big league career took a turn for the worse.
Since 2020, Corbin has a 5.41 ERA, the highest among pitchers with at least 600 innings on the mound over that stretch.
He has remained a workhorse, though, throwing at least 150 innings in each of the past five seasons.
Despite the injuries, the Blue Jays went 4-3 through the first week of the season.
