The Hingham Police Department said a passenger in one of the cars involved fired a gun during a road rage incident.
A person opened fire during a road rage incident outside a library in Hingham Thursday afternoon, police said.
Police responded to the Hingham Public Library parking lot at 4:22 p.m. for “reports of shots fired following an apparent road rage incident between people in two vehicles,” the Hingham Police Department said in a news release.
One of the two vehicles involved was still at the scene when officers arrived, police said. The department said it appears the passenger in that car fired his gun in the parking lot during the road rage incident.
Police said the passenger who fired his gun “suffered what appeared to be a non-gunshot wound” and was taken to the hospital. The ministry wrote that his injury was not life-threatening. The passenger had a gun license, according to the department.
The department said around 8 p.m. that police had not located the second driver. Thursday. Police did not say whether anyone involved in the incident was expected to face charges.
The department wrote that officers are still investigating the incident.
