The two occupants of the other car suffered non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said.
Two people are dead after two cars collided on Route 6 near the Westport-Dartmouth city line Friday evening, authorities said.
The accident occurred around 7:35 p.m. Friday and involved a Toyota Camry sedan and a Saab sedan, Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn’s office said in a news release Saturday.
Quinn’s office identified the victims as Tristan Bedient, 34, of Acushnet, and Kate Aldrich, 51, of New Bedford.
Bedient was driving the Camry and Aldrich was a passenger. Their car sustained “catastrophic damage” during the collision, Quinn said.
After the accident, both Bedient and Aldrich were taken to a local hospital, where they were pronounced dead, the district attorney said.
Quinn’s office said the Saab was carrying two passengers who suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
The investigation into the incident remains active and is being handled by Massachusetts State Police, Dartmouth Police and Westport Police, in cooperation with State Police investigators assigned to the District Attorney’s Office, authorities said.
