The New York mother, who was allegedly killed by her asylum-seeking boyfriend inside her new home in Ireland, died of suffocation, contradicting initial reports from the bloody murder scene.
The body of Jami Carney, discovered in bed by her 13-year-old daughter, was found hidden under a duvet in her room on Tuesday morning in the town of Killarney.
Carney suffered several serious injuries to her head and is believed to have been the victim of a brutal attack by her new lover, suspected Middle Eastern murderer Ahmed Al-Saqr, but she did not die from the violent assault.
The 43-year-old mother died of asphyxiation, according to a post-mortem examination conducted by state pathologist Dr. Linda Mulligan. The Irish Times reported.
No additional information from the exam has been published.
Irish police have opened a murder investigation into Carney’s death, and are searching for the 28-year-old Falcon, who is believed to have fled the country hours after the alleged murder.
The newspaper reported that officials feared that DNA evidence found at the scene may hamper the investigation because Al-Sager regularly visited Carney’s home rather than a murder committed by a stranger.
Carney, who worked at a health care consulting firm, met Al-Sager at a pro-Palestinian rally a year and a half ago.

He is believed to have jumped on a bus from Killarney to Dublin at 3am, possibly on a last-minute flight from Ireland to Istanbul, Turkey, according to the Irish Independent.
Police are investigating several of Al-Saqr’s contacts across the Middle East, including in Turkey, Syria and Jordan, on suspicion they are helping the man, who arrived in Ireland in 2024, to escape.
Officials issued alerts at ports and airports over concerns that the hawk had fled the country 12 hours before Carney’s body was found.
“(Police) are satisfied that the person of interest in this investigation left the jurisdiction in the early hours of Tuesday 7 July before the body of the deceased woman was discovered and reported to them,” a police statement said. She told the Irish Independent.
Sources told the outlet that it is unclear how he could have fled the country as he would not have had access to his passport due to his open asylum application.
Carney, who moved with her daughter from Westchester County, New York, to Ireland in 2021, was remembered by family as “the most caring humanitarian.”

Fox described Carney’s death as a “shock and a nightmare” for her family, with her mother “deeply upset” and “barely able to get her words out.”
“It’s something that no one expected because two days ago, a picture was posted and everyone is smiling,” Fox told the outlet.
The Irish Independent newspaper previously reported that Carney may have been killed during a fit of jealousy or anger.
Neighbors reported hearing a loud argument coming from Carney’s rental home on Monday, hours before her body was discovered.
Police have also asked anyone in the area of the luxury residential property between 11pm on Monday and 5am on Tuesday to come forward with any information or CCTV video.
