Dr. Sloan has led the university for more than two decades, and under his presidency, HCU has experienced unprecedented growth in student population and degree programs, campus building and expansion, and national visibility, according to Peña.
“The University’s thoughts and prayers are with First Lady Sue Sloan and their children and grandchildren as they walk through this time of loss and grief,” Peña said in a statement. “The Bible declares that ‘to be absent from the body is to be present with Christ.’ Today, President Robert Sloan’s faith is made visible.”
Details of Dr. Sloan’s death were not immediately available, but the HCU Board of Trustees said more information will be provided when it becomes available.
