‘Hadn’t Played Well Enough’ — Pro Bowler Believes Terrion Arnold’s ‘Career Is Over’ After Lions Release

After Terrion Arnold was granted bond on Monday following his arrest last Wednesday, the Detroit Lions announced they were releasing the cornerback.

Arnold has been charged with eight felony counts, including armed robbery and kidnapping, and he could serve up to life in prison if convicted. So, where does all of that leave his NFL future? Would any team take a chance on Arnold if he were able to play in the league again?

T.J. Houshmandzadeh Thinks Terrion Arnold’s NFL Career Is Over

Arnold turned himself in to the police on June 24. The former Lions cornerback was renting an Airbnb that was allegedly robbed. He reportedly suspected he knew who had robbed him, and had multiple people kidnap these people at gunpoint and assault them to try to get the stolen goods back.

According to the police, Arnold did not actually kidnap the people, but was on FaceTime while his co-conspirators did so. The investigation later found that these people actually had nothing to do with the alleged robbery at Arnold’s Airbnb.

Later on Monday, the “Speakeasy” show discussed the events surrounding Arnold and what they believe his future in the NFL will be.

When asked on the show whether “Terry Arnold’s career is over?”, former Pro Bowler T.J. Houshmandzadeh said, “Probably. He hadn’t played well enough in his limited time in the National Football League, where I believe somebody would give him a chance,” former Pro Bowler T.J. Houshmandzadeh said. “Nobody is signing him. Had he had a very good Year 1 and 2, he would get signed.”

“He was hurt last year, and even when he was playing, in Year 1, Aaron Glenn had him manning up. He wasn’t manning up there at Alabama, so he kind of wasn’t used to that.”

Then the group discussed more about the actual events that took place with Arnold.

“To me, there’s no answer that Terrion Arnold can give, or you can’t say sorry enough when you do something like this to people that have no idea why things are being done to them,” Houshmandzadeh added. “I really do hope he gets another opportunity, I really do. But the way the NFL is going … because he felt like he went and got the people that got him. And I’m sure once he realized it wasn’t them people, I would hope he had some kind of remorse.”

Then Emmanuel Acho jumped in and gave his thoughts on Arnold’s behavior.

“I don’t feel sorry for Terrion Arnold,” Acho said. “Even if those were the dudes that got his stuff, you don’t take this into your own hands.”

Houshmandzadeh went on to explain that if he were in Arnold’s position and had gone to the police about his stolen goods and nothing had happened, then he would’ve taken things into his own hands, too.

He referenced the way he grew up, and that’s how things happened. Houshmandzadeh noted he doesn’t know about Arnold’s upbringing, but could understand taking things into his own hands. However, he didn’t say this was the way to do so.

Arnold will now have to wait and see what the outcome is. As for his NFL future, it will be up to the league to investigate and wait for court rulings to make its decision.
