Ford is recalling 741,195 vehicles in the United States due to a transmission defect that could damage the parking system, which in turn could cause vehicles to move away, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said on Tuesday.
The recall affects some 2018-2021 Navigator, Expedition, 2020-2021 Explorer, Lincoln Aviator, and 2021 F-150 vehicles, the regulator said.
Dealers will update the software, inspect and replace any damaged tanker components free of charge, according to NHTSA.
Separately, Ford is also recalling 36,046 Bronco vehicles in the U.S. due to improperly secured fender flares that can detach from the vehicle, posing a road hazard and increasing the risk of an accident, according to NHTSA.
Fender flares are the curved extensions above the tires that fit over the vehicle’s wheel arches.

NHTSA said dealers will inspect and repair or replace the fender flares as necessary, free of charge, as part of the recall remedy.
