A former Mexican mayor has had so much success during her country’s World Cup bid that she has been forced to speak out.
Sandra Cuevas, who previously served as mayor of Cuauhtémoc, enjoyed El Tri’s start to the tournament, with atmosphere high in Mexico after wins over South Africa and South Korea.
But the politician in particular drew attention for her tight clothing during a recent rally, forcing her to respond to online comments about her chest that went viral.
“Okay guys, what can I do? I can’t just take them off,” Cuevas said. The sun.
She continued: “I do not consider it an attack. There will be those who think this way and take it in an insulting way, but this is the case with us Mexicans.”
Photos posted on social media show Cuevas, 40, wearing a low-cut white T-shirt during a recent outing in Mexico.
She appeared to be tying a shirt or Mexican shirt around her waist but she wasn’t actually wearing it in the photos.
After serving as mayor of Cuauhtémoc until 2024, Cuevas now reportedly serves as coordinator of the Mexico Nuevo political movement.
Her term as mayor lasted from October 2021 to March 2024.

She and other Mexico fans have had a lot of joy so far, with the team picking up two wins in as many group stage matches.
Mexico opened its tournament campaign by beating South Africa 2-0 before beating South Korea 1-0 on Thursday.
El Tre has already topped its group and secured a place in the knockout rounds, but its final match in the group stage will come against the Czechs on Wednesday.
