An ABC News reporter was seen diving for safety while standing on the North Lawn of the White House when dozens of gunshots rang out Saturday night.
Veteran reporter Selina Wang — known for her cool head and regular travel with the president — was filming a report from the Pebble Beach area of the building for reporters on her iPhone before hiding, her eyes bulging with panic.
Chaos erupted near the fenced perimeter around 17th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue Northwest when the Secret Service shot down a gunman who opened fire outside the facility’s gate.
“I was in the middle of recording on my iPhone to record a social video from the North Lawn of the White House when we heard the shots,” Wang said on X.
“It sounded like dozens of gunshots. We were told to quickly run to the press conference room where we were being held now.”
