This was not the type of “smashburger” they were looking for.
A FOOD courier has been ripped up and down after they were filmed stomping and kicking a customer’s delivery order right outside their home.
“At first I thought a fox had gotten into it,” Monique Johnson, from London, told Jam Press about her dinner fiasco.
The 30-year-old reportedly ordered a $23.59 order of Popeyes chicken via Uber Eats at around 3am on Saturday, May 17, with the driver arriving an hour later, with the car in hand.
Because of the unusual hour, the night waitress said she asked the delivery driver to call her when he was out so as not to wake a sleeping family member.
Unfortunately, she did not receive any call or message, and without any alerts to wake her up, the Brit then fell asleep.
When Johnson woke up the next morning, she was horrified to find the flattened bag of food outside her door.
“I threw the food in the trash because I was confused as to why it was lying flat,” recalls the terrified customer, who checked her doorbell camera to see what had happened.
The footage showed the courier taking a picture of the bag, then kicking it and smashing it with his foot, before returning to his car.
These measures were not approved by Johnson.
“Even if I don’t answer the door or my phone, why would you take a picture like you’re delivering food… and then step on it and kick it?” She said.
The beneficiary claimed she filed a complaint with Uber Eats but received no response. She later posted a video of the incident on TikTok, where it received thousands of views.
After the upload, Uber followed Johnson on TikTok, but has not contacted her directly yet, she told Jam Press.
This isn’t the first time an Uber Eats employee has plundered a customer’s order.
Last year, a food courier named Tom resorted to stealing customers’ fries, saying that sometimes he couldn’t resist, especially when the package wasn’t tightly sealed.
“When you’re stuck in traffic with someone [fries] Next to you, and you haven’t eaten in hours, it’s hard,” Tom lamented.
