Red Sox could be in range to draft Brody Bumila

MLB mock drafts and the Red Sox chances of grabbing Brody Bumila: Although he also starred on the school’s basketball team (anchoring Recent state championship run), 6-foot-9 Brody Pumila and Bishop Feehan have increasingly become known for his shooting prowess.

Pumila, now in his final year, wowed fans and scouts in Bishop Feehan’s final start. He struck out a school-record 20 strikeouts and threw a seven-inning no-hitter. His fastball reached 100 mph.

Although he is technically committed to going to Texas to play college baseball next season, there is also a strong possibility that he could go straight to Major League Baseball.

Much of Pumila’s potential future at the professional level rests on the growing chance of being selected in the first round in the 2026 MLB Draft (which will run from July 11-13).

Pumila’s stock has risen in recent weeks, but he is still expected to go within the likely range of the Red Sox (who hold the 20th pick in the first round).

Right now, there are three MLB mock drafts that have Pumila close to being selected by the Red Sox:

  • MLB.com: The Red Sox selected Tyler Bell (Pumila goes 21st to the Padres).
  • Baseball America: The Red Sox selected left-handed pitcher/outfielder Jared Grendlinger (Pumila goes 18th with the Reds).
  • The athlete: The Red Sox selected third baseman Bo Lawrence (Bumila goes to No. 18 for the Reds).
