The “Summer House” spinoff “In the City” has been rolling with cameras after Amanda Patula and West Wilson announced their surprise relationship.
Bravo exec Francis Berwick confirmed Ankler on Wednesday announced that the upcoming series filmed a “new scene” to cover the fallout from the romantic trauma.
“‘In the City’, which launches in a couple of weeks – you’ll see in the first episode that we have a new scene that we shot with a couple of cast members,” Berwick said.
“So, we picked it up there, but we didn’t feel like it was the right thing to do at Summer House,” she continued.
Berwick also said the network wanted to prioritize the actors’ “emotional well-being” and “didn’t think it was right” to immediately back up cameras on “Summer House.”
Instead, Berwick notes, the production “went through a beat” before including the Wilson-Patula story in the spinoff.
She added, “This was evident at the reunion last week; and as everyone knows now, we taped the reunion last week.”
“In the City” was filmed last fall and will premiere on Wednesday, May 19, after the Season 10 finale of “Summer House.”
The cast of this series includes current “Summer House” stars Patula, Kyle Cook, and Lindsay Hubbard, alumni Daniel Oliveira and Andrea Denver, and several new cast members.
Patula, 34, and Cook, 43, were still married when they filmed In the City. The couple announced their separation last January after four years of marriage.
More than two months later, Patula confirmed her romance with Wilson, who used to date her ex-girlfriend Ciara Miller.
Wilson, 31, and Miller, 30, are not cast members for In the City, although Wilson appears in the trailer in a flirtatious scene with Patula.
In a joint statement dated March 31, Wilson and Patula admitted that their romance “grew out of a true, long-standing friendship” and insisted that “it was never our intention to intentionally hide anything.”
