Anthropic began restructuring its leadership and organization in early 2026 as it prepares for a potential initial public offering. The company, which could go public as early as October at a valuation of up to $630 billion, has recently outpaced rivals in revenue. Its annual run rate (annual revenue forecast based on current quarterly performance) topped $30 billion in April, more than triple the number at the end of 2025 and ahead of the $25 billion reported by OpenAI. The number of employees has also increased, reaching nearly 2,300 employees at the end of last year, more than double its size just months ago. Together, these changes reflect an increased focus on both rapid trials and commercial scale, while maintaining safety as a key differentiator.
A key part of this restructuring is the establishment in January of Anthropic Labs, an R&D unit focused on incubating experimental products that push the limits of Claude’s capabilities. One of its first major decisions was to withhold the public release of its most advanced model, Cloud Mythos, due to its ability to identify and exploit software vulnerabilities. Instead, the company is pursuing a limited rollout, known as Project Glasswing, offering access to more than 50 organizations, including Microsoft and Nvidia, to help bolster cyber defenses.
These structural changes are closely linked to a broader leadership reshuffle, including the promotion of former Chief Product Officer Mike Krieger to co-lead Anthropic Labs.
“Krieger is someone who knows how to build products that stick,” Div Garg, founder and CEO of superintelligence company AGI, Inc., told Observer. “At this point, the constraint is not the quality of the model. The constraint is turning the capability into things that people actually use and pay for, repeatedly, at scale.”

Krieger, former chief product officer at Anthropic and co-founder of Instagram, moved to lead Anthropic Labs engagement at its launch earlier this year. At Instagram, he served as chief technology officer, and later co-founded the news app Artifact, which he sold to Yahoo in 2024. A native of Brazil, Krieger is a graduate of Stanford University.
Ben Mann, co-founder of Anthropic, previously helped design GPT-3 at OpenAI and worked as a software engineer at Google. Before moving to Labs, he served as Principal Product Engineer at Anthropic, focusing on AI alignment and damage mitigation. Mann graduated from Columbia University.
At Anthropic Labs, Krieger and Mann oversee a range of high-risk initiatives, including the rollout and controlled governance of Claude Mythos, the company’s most advanced model. While Mythos can significantly enhance cybersecurity by identifying and exploiting software vulnerabilities, it also poses risks if misused. To manage this tension, Anthropic chose a limited edition within the Glasswing project.
With the Labs established and set, Anthropic has “The right structure in place “To support the most important movements for our product curation – discovering experimental products within Claude’s capabilities and responsibly scaling them,” Anthropic President Daniela Amodei wrote in a statement.
Amy Vora replaces Mike Krieger as COO
Following Krieger’s move to Anthropic Labs, Amy Vora took over as chief product officer. She joined the company in December 2025 as head of product and was quickly promoted. Vora spent 15 years at Meta, where she held leadership roles, including Vice President of Product at Facebook and Vice President of Product and Design at WhatsApp. She began her career at Microsoft and remains on the board of cloud monitoring platform Datadog.
As CPO, Vora works closely with Chief Technology Officer Rahul Patel to scale Cloud beyond experimentation and expand Anthropic’s presence in the market.
Rahul Patel will remain as CTO, with an expanded role
Anthropic’s broader driver’s seat remains deep, with all seven founders still at the company. Rahul Patel, who became executive artistic director in October, succeeds Sam McCandlish, who is now chief architect. Patel previously served as CTO at Stripe and led engineering teams at Microsoft, AWS, and Oracle. Battelle now works in close coordination with Vora, and focuses on bridging the gap between technical research and production-ready products.
As Anthropic approaches a potential IPO, this alignment is becoming increasingly critical. “Anthropic decided that the frontier laboratory model would only get you so far,” he said. AGI Company Garg. “My read is that Anthropic is preparing for a more competitive trading phase, perhaps regardless of the timing of the IPO.”

- Jared Kaplan, Chief Science Officer and Co-Founder: Jared Kaplan, Anthropic co-founder and former OpenAI researcher, serves as chief science officer. Since 2024, he has also served as the company’s responsible expansion officer, where he helped guide safety-related decisions.

Anthropy and Trust Council
In February, Anthropic appointed Chris Liddell, former White House deputy chief of staff and former CFO at Microsoft and General Motors, to its board of directors. Daniela Amodei said that Lidl has “Proven track record of helping organizations It happens [technology, public service and governance] “When the risks are higher.”
The rest of the board members, including Dario Amudi, Daniela Amudi, Yasmin Rizvi, Jay Krebs, Reed Hastings and Chris Liddell, remain unchanged. The long-term benefit fund recently removed Kanika Bahl and Zach Robinson and added Mariano Florentino Cuellar; Neil Baddi Shah remains on the Board of Trust.
