Police officers took down a naked man holding a gun after screaming at a Tesla Bay Area repair shop.
The Berkeley Police Department said officers responded to the Tesla Service Center at 901 Gilman Street after receiving several 911 calls about the suspect running down the street with something in his hand and smashing windows.
While en route, officers were notified that he had broken into a Tesla repair shop while carrying a gun.
Police then set up a perimeter at the service center and were ready to receive the man, who eventually ran out of the building screaming and carrying a gun without a piece of clothing on. Crohn’s 4 I mentioned.
The Berkeley Police Department said they asked him to stop, but the naked man continued to attack police officers.
Once the man got close enough, some officers were able to confront him and grab the gun from his hand. He was then handcuffed and taken away by the police.
Police later obtained a search warrant for his nearby property, where they said they found evidence indicating the gun had been used inside several times.
“We are grateful that no one was injured, and we are grateful to all the people who called to report the location of the suspect so officers could quickly take the man into custody,” BPD told the outlet.
The naked man has since been identified as Edward Tice, 35. Tess’s hometown is listed as Berkeley, California, according to his bio. Berkeley Scanner.
He previously attended a private high school in Massachusetts before joining the rowing staff at Yale University from 2009 to 2010, according to the report.
Tess was arrested on a variety of charges, including suspicion of assault with a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm in public, and intentionally negligently discharging a firearm.
He was being held at Santa Rita Jail, and his bail was listed at $175,000 as of Tuesday, according to the report.
As of Wednesday, the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office charged Tess with grossly negligent discharge of a firearm, assault with a firearm and resisting a law enforcement officer, according to a KTVU Reporter on the X post.
