Cops make horrifying discovery at vaction home of man accused of filming guests

Detectives have revealed they found a “life-like child doll designed for sexual use” in the home of a suspected pervert accused of registering families at his holiday rental.

Madera County cops said they found the toy handcuffed at Christian Parmalee Edwards’ home in Oakhurst earlier this month.

They also reported finding newly purchased children’s clothing and thousands of files containing child sexual abuse material during the raid.

“This shows the escalation in behaviors from viewing digital images to photography to physical behaviors,” said Kate Wortman with the Madera County Sheriff’s Office.

Officers allege that Edwards not only possessed and distributed the materials, but also secretly recorded guests during private moments, resulting in an additional violation of the privacy charge.

Edwards was arrested after a search of his home in Oakhurst. He is also accused of secretly photographing the women and children residing in the lower floors of the house.

The investigation began after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children reported suspected online distribution activity in Oakhurst.

Police seized about 30 digital devices from the sprawling estate and are being forensically analyzed.

“Protecting innocents, upholding the law, and holding perpetrators accountable remains a top priority,” Madera County Sheriff Tyson Pugh said.

The case is being handled in coordination with the Central California Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, and officials say they are continuing to search for potential victims.

The case comes amid a broader surge in online exploitation. The Internet Watch Foundation reported a record 291,273 instances of child sexual abuse material in 2024 – nearly 800 reports per day, the highest total ever recorded.
