‘Bachelorette’ alum James McCoy Taylor re-arrested on assault charges in Texas

Former The Bachelorette star James McCoy Taylor was rearrested in Texas for assault in 2024 — even after pleading guilty and receiving his sentence last year.

The 39-year-old was taken into custody in Brazos County on Friday, but was released the same day after posting $10,000 bail, the Brazos County Police Department said, according to Fox News.

Taylor — who appeared on Season 12 of “The Bachelorette” in 2016 — was arrested on an arrest warrant connected to an April 2024 incident in which a 19-year-old college student accused him of physically assaulting her and preventing her from leaving his Texas residence.

He was initially arrested in August 2024 on charges of assault causing bodily injury and unlawful restraint related to the incident.

Taylor pleaded guilty in April 2025 to assaulting a 19-year-old Blinn College student, and was ordered to complete 80 hours of community service, pay $750 in fines and $350 in court costs, and attend anger management classes.

He was also prohibited from having any contact with the victim and banned from entering the Northgate Entertainment District.

The “Bachelorette” alum was arrested again on Friday after a court revoked his probation and issued a warrant on February 17 for his apparent failure to pay the full amount of his fines.

The singer has paid $884 of the $1,184 in fines, but still owes $300, and made a final $80 payment shortly before his arrest, according to court records obtained by Fox News.

Following his arrest in August 2024, Taylor issued a statement to the people He denies any wrongdoing.

“I’m a pretty big guy but I was trying to illegally restrain a girl and she just ran away?…and went straight to her Uber right outside my house? No injuries?” he told the outlet.

“I would never hurt anyone. I’m kind to everyone I meet.”

A probable cause document obtained by the outlet states that Taylor met the woman at a College Station bar before taking her back to his apartment, where they began kissing — until she said she wanted to leave.

The woman told investigators that he assaulted her and pinned her to the ground.

She also claimed Taylor “groped her vagina” and “used his body weight to pin her down and kiss her some more”, before she was able to break free, escape through the front door and flee before calling police.

This is not the first time Taylor has faced the law.

In September 2022, he was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated and illegally carrying a weapon.

He was sentenced in November 2023 to five days in the Brazos County Detention Center and ordered to pay a $500 fine and $585 in court fees.

The DWI case also resulted in the temporary suspension of his driver’s license.

Taylor’s arrest on Friday comes on the heels of ABC canceling the next season of “The Bachelorette” after a disturbing video linked to Taylor’s former domestic feud, Frankie Paul, surfaced.

The move comes as allegations surrounding her ex-husband Dakota Mortensen continue to surface and impact her reality TV projects.
