Houston Avenue Bridge hit for third time, too tall load on 18-wheeler forces HPD to shut down I-10 eatsbound

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) – The Houston Avenue Bridge was hit again Tuesday, according to TxDOT, the third time the bridge has been hit this year and the 76th since the start of 2025.

An 18-wheeler carrying a load too long to fit in its trailer prompted police to shut down I-10 near downtown Houston on Tuesday.

TranStar cameras showed the 18-wheeler parked on the eastbound lanes of the eastbound Katy Expressway near Hogan Street with a very long load on its trailer that appeared to be very long.

Cameras later showed police stopping traffic on eastbound I-10 to escort the 18-wheeler the wrong way down the highway.

Authorities later allowed eastbound traffic to pass while they continued to escort the 18-wheeler off the highway, according to Transtar images.
