Sabalenka and Świątek’s Results So Far This Season

The 2026 season hasn’t started as planned for Sabalenka and Świątek. Both players have competed in two tournaments each so far this year.

Sabalenka started her year by triumphing at the Brisbane International. The world No. 1 dominated proceedings at the Australian Open as well, only to suffer a shock 4-6, 6-4, 4-6 defeat to Rybakina in the final. This was only Sabalenka’s second defeat in the last four editions of the Australian Open. Both losses have come in the final.

Meanwhile, Świątek was beaten by Rybakina in straight sets in the quarterfinals. The Pole then headed to Doha for the Qatar Open, where she made a decent start but was beaten by Maria Sakkari in three sets in the quarterfinals.

Both Sabalenka and Świątek will have their sights set on lifting some hardware during the Sunshine Swing. And it will be interesting to see if either player can manage to come out on top amid the increasing competition at the top of the WTA charts.
