After wrapping up his tennis season at the 2025 ATP Finals in Turin, Zverev has taken a break from the court to spend quality time with his loved ones. The former world No. 2, who resides in Monte Carlo, Monaco, recently enjoyed a ride on a Ferris wheel that offered a view of Monaco’s Christmas Market, located at Port Hercule, the city’s primary deep-water harbor, alongside Thomalla and their new puppy, a golden-brown Dachshund named Mishka.
Recently, Thomalla shared a couple of pictures from their night out on social media. She posted an image of a beautifully decorated Christmas tree in Casino Square, Monte-Carlo, Monaco, followed by a selfie of herself and Zverev standing in front of the same tree.
“Merry Xmas,” Thomalla captioned her Instagram story.
During the 2025 season, Zverev won only one title: the BMW Open in Munich. He finished as the runner-up at the Australian Open, the BOSS Open in Stuttgart, and the Vienna Open.
The former world No. 2 reached the semifinals at the Halle Open, the Canadian Open, the Cincinnati Open, and the Paris Masters. He also advanced to the quarterfinals at the Argentina Open, the Rio Open, the Italian Open, the French Open, and the China Open.
Alexander Zverev to Next Compete at the 2026 United Cup
Looking ahead, Zverev will begin his 2026 season by representing Germany at the United Cup, scheduled to take place from Jan. 2 to Jan. 11, 2026, in Australia. The matches will be held at the RAC Arena in Perth and the Ken Rosewall Arena in Sydney. Germany has been placed in Group F alongside Poland and the Netherlands and will compete in Sydney.
Germany is a former champion of the United Cup, having won the tournament in 2024 by defeating Team Poland 2-1 in the final. Zverev was a part of the winning team. Team Germany for the 2026 United Cup will consist of three men’s players and three women’s players: Zverev, Patrick Zahraj, Kevin Krawietz, Laura Siegemund, Eva Lys, and Mina Hodzic, with Alexander Zverev Sr. serving as the captain.
“I’m excited to come back to the United Cup. It’s always special to start the year there. We won in 2024, which was a very special moment with the team,” Zverev said.
During the group stage at the United Cup, Zverev will face Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz and the Netherlands’ Tallon Griekspoor in singles matches. Zverev has faced Griekspoor 10 times on the ATP Tour, winning eight of those matches. Their latest matchup was in the quarterfinals of the 2025 Vienna Open, where the Dutch withdrew due to a back injury.
On the other hand, Zverev and Hurkacz have met four times on the ATP Tour, with the former world No. 2 winning three of those encounters. Their most recent match was in the semifinals of the 2024 Halle Open, where Hurkacz triumphed with a scoreline of 7-6(2), 6-4.
Interestingly, during Germany’s victorious run at the 2024 United Cup, Zverev faced Hurkacz in a singles match in the final and won with a scoreline of 6-7(3), 7-6(6), 6-4.
