On Sunday, the Cleveland Browns lost a close game against the now 2-11 Tennessee Titans. This was a battle between two teams focused on the future, but the Browns’ current quarterback, rookie Shedeur Sanders, did not look too bad.
Sanders finished with 364 yards and three touchdowns, but during the game, some of the focus was on what happened after impactful plays.
Titans Star Gets Payback on Shedeur Sanders
This game was extremely close throughout, and any play could have been the difference. One in particular came early in the fourth quarter, when Sanders threw to rookie running back Dylan Sampson in the backfield.
When Sampson ran upfield, he got hit by a Titans defender, and the ball was jarred loose. At the end of the play, when Tennessee was celebrating, the players, including $94,000,000 Titans star Jeffery Simmons, chose to do the watch celebration made famous by the Browns QB.
It was a bit confusing why the Titans would do this, except maybe because Sanders is so well known, but the real reason was actually because of something that happened earlier in the game.
When the Browns were trailing 14-3 at the beginning of the second quarter, Sanders threw a beautiful touchdown to TE David Njoku.

Again, this was an excellent play, but from a different angle, something else was seen. After the touchdown, it was actually revealed why the Titans team mocked the Sanders celebration.
Now we know why they spammed the wrist up after that fumble ???????? Shedeur a savage pic.twitter.com/RH0iMC166A

In the video, after the touchdown was confirmed on the field, Sanders made sure to find Simmons and do his watch celebration right in the star DT’s face. This exchange could have happened because of previous plays in the first quarter or even just Sanders’ competitive spirit. Still, it also makes sense why the Titans responded with the celebration.
The Titans were the ones to get the last laugh on Sunday, and after the game, Simmons addressed the smack-talking from Sanders: “You know he’s a competitor, you know he’s going to talk back. I love it.”

Clearly, there is zero bad blood between the players, and this moment during the game was just the competitive spirit of both players coming out. Maybe next time the two play, Sanders could get the next victory.
