“Zootopia 2” is the highest-grossing opening ever for a global animated film. Disney’s sequel grossed $156 million domestically in its five-day opening weekend, and more than $556 million globally.

In the rest of the weekend’s box office, “Wicked: For Good” easily took second place with $62 million.

It’s almost a copy-and-paste of last year, when Wicked and another Disney animated sequel, Moana 2, drew big crowds to theaters on Thanksgiving weekend.

“Now You See Me: Now You Don’t” ranked third, earning $7 million in its third weekend.
