Southern California freeway crash leaves at least 1 person dead

A crash on an Inland Empire highway left at least one person dead Monday morning.

Preliminary information indicates the accident occurred at 4:50 a.m. on the eastbound extension of Interstate 60 west of Country Village Road in Jurupa Valley.

While details regarding the accident itself are limited, it was confirmed that a SigAlert was issued due to the collision and that only the westbound HOV lane was open when the investigation began. Authorities also indicated that an investigation into the death is ongoing.

According to the California Highway Patrol’s accident log, the vehicle involved in the crash appears to have veered off the road while traveling eastbound on Interstate 60 and veered off the highway, landing in a nearby industrial park off Wabash Drive. A photo sent to KTLA by a viewer shows a car that appeared to go off the highway and hit a truck parked in the parking lot.
