Surveillance video captured the moment a thief posing as a customer escaped from a Glendale clothing store with thousands of dollars worth of merchandise.
The theft occurred at Qualité Los Angeles, a specialty store offering high-end clothing brands and other accessories, located in Kenneth Village, a popular shopping and dining area.
On November 7, surveillance cameras captured a young suspect entering the store and pretending to be an interested customer. He toured the small store and spoke with the store manager, Anthony Montes, asking questions about the items and shoe size.
He spent about 20 minutes in the store. He was browsing the hoodie section near the entrance when the store manager momentarily entered the back room.

The second the manager was gone, the suspect quickly grabbed a rack full of designer brand hoodies and a plush Pikachu toy before running out of the store and getting into a waiting getaway car.
The manager said the thief escaped with goods worth about $10,000.
“He said he was local and was building trust with me,” Montes told KTLA’s Chris Wolfe. “I’m trying to show everyone here great customer service and we’re a new business. He kept asking about different shoe sizes. I went to the back for a split second and heard the plastic protectors of our clothes rustling. I walked back out and he was gone.”
Montes said the brazen robbery was a surprise, especially since the store had only opened three months ago and the area is known for being safe and family-friendly.
“It’s really bad because the owner and I are trying to build a relationship with the community,” Montes said.
The suspect was described as a young Asian man, perhaps between 18 and 25 years old. He is approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall, has a slim build and wears glasses.
Since the thief is still at large, the store owner is worried that he will strike again.
