Ja Morant has been the talk of the town in basketball trade conversations as of late. This is due to his strong comments on the Memphis Grizzlies’ coaching staff. There are signs that the Grizzlies’ roster might soon implode, with Morant potentially headlining a trade.
Amid those controversies, NBA legend Carmelo Anthony shared his thoughts on where Morant could end up.
Carmelo Anthony Lists Two Teams for Ja Morant
According to recent reports, the Grizzlies have no intention of trading Morant, at least not yet. While that may be the case for now, many are speculating that it could happen soon. One of those who believes Morant could be traded is Anthony.
Since retiring from the NBA, Anthony has kept himself relevant in the basketball world with his podcast, “7PM in Brooklyn.” During its most recent episode, the basketball legend gave his two cents on which teams would best suit Morant.
In Anthony’s opinion, the Grizzlies star should play for a team with a well-established culture. Doing so would likely help Morant shape up his attitude, given the adjustment he would have to make to fit in with a new group. Anthony believes that either the Miami Heat or Milwaukee Bucks would be a good fit for the young guard.
“(Ja Morant) needs a culture,” Anthony said. “He created the culture in Memphis. … He needs to go somewhere that is already centered around culture, and hard work, and discipline.”
The NBA legend first explained why he thinks Morant would be a good fit for Miami. Playing under the leadership of Pat Riley could be beneficial for the star guard. Riley is known for allowing his players to play the way they want, as long as they remain disciplined.
“I’m not mad at (Ja Morant) (playing for) Miami,” Anthony added. “Pat gonna let you be you. But you also gotta be professional.”
Anthony then mentioned why playing for the Bucks would be good for Morant. This is due to the presence of Giannis Antetokounmpo, who is known for his work ethic. Anthony believes that Antetokounmpo’s work ethic could rub off on Morant, helping him shape up.
“Milwaukee, you have somebody else there who can hold you accountable in Giannis,” Anthony continued. “Ja works. But now, when you get around somebody else who got a work ethic like that? It only inspires you, it only motivates you to be at that level with him.”
If Ja Morant is moved, Melo likes Miami & Milwaukee as possible landing spots ????
