Los Angeles Police Department detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying additional victims of a man who reportedly used stolen personal identification information to fraudulently rent apartments in Los Angeles.
In a Publish a press release to XInvestigators with the Los Angeles Police Department’s Commercial Crimes Division said the man, known only as Igor, had applied to rent two apartments, one in Hollywood and the other in the Larchmont area.
“The suspect used other individuals’ personal identification information to complete rental applications and provided forged cashier’s checks to property management companies as part of the operation,” police said.
The man is described as an adult black man with braids and a beard or goatee.
“Investigators are releasing a photo of the suspect because they believe there may be additional victims, including rental and property management companies that may have been targeted,” the statement noted.
