The 2025-26 NBA season is already a week through, which means that we are at the height of spooky season. Several of the league’s brightest stars donned some incredible Halloween costumes to celebrate the beloved holiday.
NBA Stars Who Wore the Best Costumes for Halloween
NBA players are no strangers to dressing eccentrically, and Halloween always allows these athletes to be as bold as possible. There have been too many memorable outfits to count throughout the years, but Friday brought a whole new host of costumes.
In particular, many players opted for the cinematic route, donning costumes of some of cinema’s most beloved characters. And some were more deep-cut than others. Portland Trail Blazers center Donovan Clingan arrived at his home arena with his golden retriever puppy dressed as Russell and Doug from “Up.”

Meanwhile, Philadelphia 76ers guard Kyle Lowry went old school as Money Mike from “Friday After Next.”

But one of the more fitting costumes of the day came from Tyrese Maxey, who gave his best Allen Iverson impersonation. With the way Tyrese is playing right now, Philadelphia 76ers fans will start dressing up as him in the near future.

Lastly, ESPN’s NBA Today crew certainly didn’t go the conservative route with their costumes, specifically Richard Jefferson.

Overall, it was another memorable Halloween night as teams went into their first games of this year’s NBA Cup. The Milwaukee Bucks are defending champs in this in-season tournament, which is set to end in Las Vegas once again.
The players on the winning team receive $530,933, while the runner-up gets $212,373; semifinalists receive $106,187, and quarterfinalists receive $53,093. The coaches also receive compensation for advancing in this annual tournament. With many surprising teams off to hot starts, it’ll be interesting to see if they can carry this form into this competition.
