Which Team Has the Best Chance To Land the Top Pick?
PFSN’s Playoff Predictor not only forecasts the playoff picture and Super Bowl winner, but it also predicts which team will land the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. In addition to factoring in each team’s record, it also considers each team’s remaining strength of schedule.
Week 8 brought some truly shocking results. The Ravens, who were once again without Lamar Jackson, were able to pull out a victory over the Bears, as their dead-last defense in PFSN’s Defense Impact metric finally showed signs of life.
But the biggest shocker of the week came down to two AFC East teams. The Jets and the Dolphins, both of whom had been among the worst teams in the league, registered victories in the afternoon games.
For Miami, it was a dominant performance against the short-handed Falcons, beating them 34-10. New York, after starting the season 0-7, pulled off one of the most improbable wins of the year.
Entering the fourth quarter against the Bengals down 31-16, the Jets mounted a miraculous final period, leading to a 39-38 victory. The result shook up the standings across the league, as playoff chances took significant turns.
The Titans, in their second game after firing head coach Brian Callahan, were ripped apart by the Indianapolis Colts, losing 38-14 to start the Cam Ward era with a 1-7 record.
Following Monday’s results, here are the teams with the best chance of securing the top pick:
- New York Jets, 25.3%
- Tennessee Titans, 22.8%
- New Orleans Saints, 21.6%
- Cleveland Browns, 6.6%
- Miami Dolphins, 6.5%
- Las Vegas Raiders, 5.1%
- New York Giants, 3.5%
