Walmart's 'Thanksgiving Meal Basket' will feed 10 people for under $40, company claims

(NEXSTAR) – Walmart on Tuesday made its 2025 “Thanksgiving Meal Basket” available for purchase, at a price the retailer claims is its lowest since the promotion began in 2022.

The basket contains more than 20 items (some canned, some pre-made, some fresh) including turkey, potatoes, stuffing mix, sautéed onions, pie crusts, and packaged macaroni and cheese, among other ingredients. The package is intended to feed 10 people for less than $4 per person, according to Walmart.

The deal is available in store and online. Online shoppers can purchase the entire meal “as a basket with one click,” Walmart said.

“We know that every dollar and minute counts — that’s why we’re offering a low-priced, one-click Thanksgiving meal basket featuring popular brands like Butterball and Stove Top along with trusted Walmart private brand items,” John Forner, president and CEO of Walmart US, said in a statement accompanying Walmart’s announcement.

Walmart’s previous Thanksgiving Meal Pack, introduced before Thanksgiving 2024, was advertised as costing less than $7 per person. Last year’s roadshow also repeatedly mentioned “inflation” as a driving factor for Walmart’s bid, although no such mention was made in the press release issued on this year’s deal.

“We want every family to be able to share a meal and celebrate without compromising quality, quantity or tradition,” Forner said.

Walmart’s announcement also comes days later Aldi is touted for its special prices on the ingredients of a Thanksgiving meal, similarly suggesting that shoppers can make a holiday meal for $4 per person.
