SAN FRANCISCO (KRONA) – A 21-year-old faces multiple charges in connection with a hit-and-run in the Upper Haight in which he allegedly struck two people riding a motorcycle and then struck a parked car, the San Francisco Police Department said.
SFPD said officers responded to an October 3 incident at 9:50 p.m. at the intersection of Haight and Lyon streets.
Police said the victims of the accident were taken to a nearby hospital, where one sustained serious injuries and the other sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
“The preliminary investigation revealed that a vehicle collided with a motorcycle and then collided with a parked, unoccupied vehicle while attempting to flee the scene,” San Francisco Police said in a press release. “The suspect vehicle was found abandoned near the area of Big Streets and Central Avenue.”
Police said they quickly took over the traffic collision investigation and eventually identified Fatima Zahra Kabira Ghalib, of San Francisco, as the prime suspect. Ghalib was transported to the San Francisco County Jail where he awaits charges, including felony hit and run with injury.
Despite the arrest in this case, the investigation is still ongoing. Anyone with information is encouraged to call SFPD at (415) 575-4444 or text a tip to TIP411, beginning the message with “SFPD.” Anonymous tips are welcome.
