Fan sues LeBron James over 'second decision'

Some people weren’t happy when LeBron James’ “second decision” turned out to be a Hennessy ad.

Now, a fan is suing him.

according to TMZ Sports29-year-old Andrew Garcia will take King James to small claims court. He filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles County on Wednesday and said the 40-year-old owes him $856.66. He claims “fraud, deception, misrepresentation and any and all grounds for legal recovery.”

Garcia told the outlet that he assumed James would announce his retirement. So he purchased two tickets, priced at $432.83 apiece, to what he thought would be the 21-time NBA All-Star’s final game against his former team, the Cleveland Cavaliers, on March 31, 2026.

He said that after James revealed he was not retiring, the tickets “lost almost all of their value.”

“I wouldn’t have bought him if he wasn’t going to retire. Plain and simple,” Garcia told the outlet.

On Monday, the four-time NBA champion teased that the “second decision” would come the next day and that it would be “the decision of all decisions.”

The short video on social media set the internet on fire, with fans worried that James was heading into retirement. Others thought it could be a promotion for Amazon or Taco Bell, two brands he’s worked with previously.

On Tuesday morning, the skeptics were right.

James’ “decision” was an ongoing partnership with Hennessy.

The collaboration is called Hennessy VSOP Limited Edition by LeBron James.

The Cleveland native doesn’t plan to hang up his sneakers just yet.

The three-time Olympic gold medalist enters his 23rd season in the NBA during the 2025-2026 season.
