ASAN – after five police officers were killed by an armed man in Dallas in 2016, KXAN investigators took a closer look at what led to that crime and many others across the state. When our documents, “fallen”, appeared in the spring the following year, our team has documented 79 Texas police officers who were killed on fire in the duty line since 2000. By September 2025, this number rose to 126, according to what he said Officer of the memorial page.
The trend we found with many killers at the time: mental illness. We have highlighted the solutions in that time to help reduce relevant deaths, including the growing communications network, the state level alert system is still used, and an advanced approach to mental health challenges in the criminal justice system.
