ICE agents arrest man at Oakland courthouse, public defenders say

((Crohn-The American immigration and customs enforcement agents arrested a man inside the Waili Manuel court in Auckland after a before the trial session on September 15, according to a statement issued by the General defender in the province of Islama Brendon Woods on Monday.

It is claimed that two of the snow factors are wearing clear clothes that the man detained in the court corridor and took him out of the building into unlimited vehicles. The agents took him to the ice detention facility, where he was still in federal reservation, according to Lods.

“The ice raids in our courts must stop immediately,” Woods said in a statement. “People who follow the orders of the judge in the presence of the court should not be forced to fear of federal agents of their mistakes and withdraw them to detention centers. Our democracy cannot work if this continues.”

Ice arrest was the first in the Alamida County Court under President Donald Trump, according to Lods.

“Everyone – our customers, victims, witnesses, employees, and lawyers – deserve to participate without fear,” Woods said. “Our judicial system loses its legitimacy when people do not feel safe to enter the court.

Woods calls for public and local officials, including the sheriff of the province of Alamida, Yisina Sanchez and provincial lawyer Ursula Jones Dixon, “Protecting courts as safety and legal procedures.”

Woods made the following suggestions:

  • Post -court banners at court entry points that require ICE agents and all law enforcement employees to identify themselves upon entry, whether in unified or simple clothes.
  • All agencies are committed not to cooperate with ice enforcement procedures by preventing employees from positive contact with ice, sharing information about the individuals court, monitoring dates, case or immigration status with ICE.
  • All agencies are committed to notifying each other immediately when learning any plan or active to enforce the ice that takes place in the court, imprisonment or near it.

Deputy General defender Rha Georgani, who supervises Immigration Team defending the province of Islama“No one should be punished for obedience to the court’s request for a personal appearance,” he said.

“By appearing before the criminal court, our agent obeyed the rules,” said Georghani. “This relates to more than one arrest. It is related to whether we are building a system rooted in justice – or one rooted in fear.”
